About Me

  • Hello you. I'm the 35-year old Managing Director of Future Platforms, a software company which creates delightful mobile experiences. We work for lots of people you've heard of (Nokia, the BBC, Orange, and EMI) and many you won't have come across.

When I'm not doing that I read a lot, write here, and practice Aikido. I share my home in Brighton, a seaside town on the south coast of the UK, with four cats and a badger.

Drinks by SMS: "A generous buyer logs onto bcodedrinks.com or a venue's own website, selects a bar and a drink, enters the recipient's mobile phone number and pays for the drink online. The recipient receives a message, takes their mobile phone to the bar and holds the sms drink voucher under a scanning device. The voucher is verified and the drink can be grabbed at the bar."

I was one of the judges at the Ericsson Frontier Awards here in Australia last week and bCode was the winner. I've also used it at a bar here on a promotional night and, while it worked quite well, further thought needs to go into fitting into the workflow of the bar staff.
