About Me

  • Hello you. I'm the 36-year old Managing Director of Future Platforms. We make lovely things for mobile phones, for lots of people you've heard of (Microsoft, Hasbro, the BBC, Nokia, Channel 4) and many you won't have come across.

When I'm not doing that I read a lot, write here, and practice Aikido. I live in Brighton, a seaside town on the south coast of the UK.

I just found this, which builds on the GPS theme and interestingly the growing use of web servers on phones: http://raccoon.openlaboratory.net/RaccoonOnMap/ .

It's an interesting analogy between wifi & 3G, with 3G being kept expensive and relatively unused whereas wifi on phones is ever-growing, and GPS & operator-provded LBS, where the interesting things are happening using GPS.
