Irrespective of whether you agree with John Reids opinions (or dangerous and patronising pronouncements, depending on your pov) on smoking and the freedom to do it, isn't it inappropriate for the health secretary to make such a public statement? What next - the home secretary defending crime as a lifestyle choice that brings joy to millions?

I now have a Livejournal. Probably won't do an awful lot with it - I was motivated to join (a) so I can comment on other peoples LJs with my real name, or at least a consistent identity, (b) to read restricted LJ posts and (c) as an experiment regarding writing tools (as per previous posts)
